"Bursting & Perfing" is the process of separating continuous-feed, machine-generated forms into individual units.

Many mainframe and legacy computer systems generate invoices, multi-part forms and promotional offers on continuous-feed paper.  These types of documents need to have their pin-feed strips removed and perforations split to yield a single document.
