INFORMATION PROCESSING - Delivery Point Validation
The USPS is dramatically trying to reduce the amount of undeliverable mail (UAA) that it handles. Approximately $1.8 billion were spent in 2004 to process 10 billion pieces of UAA. In fact, their goal is a 50% reduction by 2010. The first requirement to meet this goal goes into effect August 1, 2007. At that time, mailing lists will need to be pre-processed for Delivery Point Validation (DPV) in order to obtain automation discounts.
DPV is a step beyond CASS Certification in that it verifies the true existence of a delivery address.
This tool and it's sister application, Locatable Address Conversion System (LACS), can be used to assess and improve your mailing lists.
Why waste money on postage and printing for mail pieces that will go nowhere?
